Tarot by Jean-Michel Bertin
|
Jean-Michel Bertin designed a new pack of tarot with more colourful figures aimed to tarot players. The 19th century Epinal like pictures seemed to him outdated. He decided to restore the more meaningful trumps from the so called Marseilles tarot. Then all the figures became comedians playing in a theatre. The result may look like a pack for fortune telling and to avoid such a confusion, the pip cards including the aces have been kept unchanged. The first edition was a very short run of ten packs, hand made, without margin, printed locally, all given to friends and tarot players. So many positive feedback were received that the artist decided in 2013 to publish a second edition of 500 packs.
