Silver era tarot
|
Aunia Kahn (www.auniakahn.com) is a self taught figurative artist who began creating art as a therapeutic response to a difficult upbringing. Kahn's works combines many disciplines, wrapping them into a hybrid art form melding photography, painting and collage. She designed the Silver Era Tarot (www.silvereratarot.com) based on the Rider-Waite-Smith interpretation. The cards are illustrated with black and white collage photographies with small hint of colour. The result looks like vintage photographies from the beginning of the twentieth century. Most pictures are very traditional but a few are more imaginative. The 96 pages booklet written by Russel J. Moon is fully illustrated, one page per card. In the two pages of introduction which have been written by both the author and the artist, we learn that she used herself as the model for all of the female figures. It should be noticed that many figures that are traditionally male have become female in this deck.
