Hanafuda by Club Nintendo
Nintendo started making playing cards in 1889. It still make them now, but their primary focus has become electronic gaming. They open a club (club.nintendo.com) for regular buyers in 2003 and in 2006 a special hanafuda pack of cards were printed and given to members for 400 points (Japan) or 800 star points (Europe).
Many cards present characters from Nintendo games like Mario replacing the crane of the pine suit and Yoshi replacing the bush warbler of the plum blossom suit. This is Boo who replaces the full moon in the pampas grass suit. Peach and Toad replace Ono no Michikaze with the frog of the willow suit.
