The Cook's Tarot by Judith Stirt
|
You may have noticed that there are more and more books, magazines, TV programs and reality shows on food and cooking. Then, the Cook's tarot is not about James Cook but celebrates cooks: those who gather, create and serve food. The cards are illustrated by Judith Mackay Stirt and again based on the traditional Rider-Waite imagery. I enjoyed the bright and vivid colours and often the whimsical humour. I'm sure this comes from the Jamaican origin of the artist. The cards are larger than standard tarot decks, smooth with an extremely glossy finish, easy to shuffle, and given their size easy to handle. The 160-page companion book provides pieces of kitchen wisdom. Note that this pack is a second edition. The original one was published in 2011 and contained 24 cards only.
