The silicon dawn tarot
Egypt Urnash, alias Peganthyrus (an anagram), is an artist and animation professional. At the turn of the century, Urnash worked at Spumco in California, the animation studio responsible for creating Ren & Stimpy. She sarcastically styles herself as an "evil vector queen" due to the fact that she uses Adobe Illustrator for most of her art.
One of her latest work is this pack of tarot which is printed only on demand and the customer can choose the size of the cards. It is clearly inspired by the Marseille one but with a graphic and science-fiction flavour. Each suit has its own shade of colour. According to Urnash “tarot is a fascinating labyrinth of seemingly significant imagery, muddied history, and confusion. It’s a sprawling canvas of images that are just far enough from being something archetypical to be fun to play with.” It was presented in the exhibition "78 Evasions" last year in Space 242, an art gallery of Boston (Massachusetts).
The three cards here are the fool, the 3 of wand and the prince (jack) of pentacle.
